The following request has been received from our Cluster Club Ellerslie Sunrise and in the spirit of helping our Rotarian friends at Ellerslie Sunrise, please see the following message;

Fellow Rotarians

My name is David Broadhead.  I’m a member of Ellerslie Sunrise Rotary Club, Men’s Shed Auckland East and Sparta Volleyball Club who have run a social league at Barfoot and Thompson Stadium since it was first built over 30 years ago (fun fact some of my predecessors in Sparta Volleyball club mortgaged their homes to ensure the build of the stadium went ahead when the main financers Chase Corporation went into receivership all those years ago).

Through Sparta volleyball club I am the sports club representative member on the board of the East City Community Trust which administers the stadium.
The book fair is a major fundraiser for both the sports clubs and the stadium and a much anticipated event amongst the local community.
I started to assist with the book fair a few years ago (but was an annual visitor / customer long before that!).

We have secured enough volunteers for Friday and Sunday, but we still need help for some of the slots during the actual running of the bookfair on Saturday.  We normally have 2 or 3 people on each checkout but with twice as many books as usual this year (we missed a year through Covid), it is really important that we also have people re-stocking and tidying the tables whilst the bookfair is in progress.

If you are able to assist on Saturday, 6th of November, for a 2 hour shift please contact Co-President Gary who will coordinate St. Johns volunteers, and advise the organising team of our commitment.
