Calling All Members - Apirana Reserve Working Bee Sunday June 19th! You should have received the following e-mail direct from Director Peter B, providing details of the day, but just incase you didn't receive it, herewith a copy.
"Dear Fellow Rotarian,
On Sunday 19 June, we seek your help at our St Johns Working Bee at Apirana Reserve, 81-87 Apirana Ave, Glen Innes, from 9.00 to 11.30 am, with optional coffee to follow. Our plan on the day is to prepare for planting in July by spreading newly arrived piles of mulch across the planting area. Volunteers will need to bring gloves, a shovel or spade, and a wheelbarrow (or large paint pail) if possible. Be sure to also bring drinking water and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Fine weather ordered, but sometimes orders get misunderstood! The site is showing impressive growth and survival of the trees we planted last year despite the earlier drought. The mulch we spread last year has really counted in protecting the young tree roots from desiccation. Please reply to me by Sunday 12 June so that we can provide Ken, Roger, and Nanda with an estimate of numbers. The photo below shows the success of last year's planting, and (attached) the before and after of mulch spreading last year - though maybe Gary and Kevin had some assistance?? Kind regards Peter 0274 341 832; buchananpandr@gmail.com" ![]() |
