Twenty Five members, and prospective residents, attended our breakfast at the Edmund Hillary Retirement Village, (EHV), last week. Breakfast was served by the staff from EHV including our own club members Michelle and Annie - thanks guys - the hosting and serving was most appreciated. Becky Gillanders, Sales Advisor, shared some information on the EHV as well as RYMAN the operating Company, who have now been in the business of building and running all inclusive Retirement Villages in New Zealand since 1984. They have also expanded into the Australian market with two operating Villages now in operation in Melbourne and six more locations currently under construction.

Unfortunately our planned guest speaker, Professor Steve Howie, was unable to attend due to illness. We wish you a speedy recovery Professor. At the last minute we were able to get Catherine Holden and
Peter Salmon from the Rotary Club of Remuera to step in and talk about the "The Fiji Oxygen Project", (FOP). Both Catherine and Peter did a stirling job considering the last minute change.
The Rotary Club of Remuera has undertaken the significant role of ensuring the necessary funds are raised to implement this project in Fiji, which will see that "No child (or adult) in Fiji will die due to lack of Oxygen in Fiji. Unfortunately this is not currently the situation in many medical procedures. The project requires NZ$650k to be raised. So far $350k has been raised and St. Johns Rotary has committed to support Remuera Rotary, where possible, in raising the outstanding funds by the end of the current year.
