Cutting edge Laser technology was appreciated by a full contingent of 20 club members during the vocational visit last week to David Hartstone's company "Creative Awards". His business creates awards, trophies, plaques and branded products using Lasers to engrave, cut or etch and we had a thoroughly enjoyable and educational time seeing a range of high-tech laser processes in action.Our morning started with a 'mix and mingle' in David's showroom where we enjoyed a lovely and lavish breakfast (supplied from fabulous New World Stonefields - thank you Graham Fabian) while discovering on display interesting samples of Creative Awards product range.
Following the fellowship of our shared breakfast, David called us to order and gave us a brief history of his company, their mission and introduced us to his right hand man Grant. We were then shepherded onto the production floor to see a number of different products receive the "Creative Award" special treatment! Watching the laser machinery in action was fascinating and unexpectedly entertaining. Tiny electrical switches were labelled with "LAUNDRY" in a laser flash; three dimensional lettering was precision laser-cut from PVC; wooden cheeseboards received laser-scorched corporate branding; two huge wine glasses were laser-etched with "Milo" (apparently both for Miles?) and the Pièce de résistance (arguably) was seeing Robyn's Rotary badge recreated, into a better, brighter version using a process called sublimation printing.
Thanks to the generosity of Creative Awards, some club members have become the recipient of a number of personalised awards and plaques, some serious, some fun. The technology Creative Awards uses is eloquent and mesmerizing. (David thinks it's scintillating!) If you want a product branded or personalised, Creative Awards can do it.
