There was a great turnout of just under 60 (members and guests) for our final Christmas themed meeting this year. A fun occasion where many rose to the Christmas Hat challenge and arrived suitably adorned. One member (pictured) took the theme a step further! On arrival and throughout dinner we were entertained with stunning harp music performed by Sophie Garret (Elf-Robyn's niece). Sophie played beautifully and also gave us a brief 'Harp 101 info session'.
Members and guests thoroughly enjoyed a festive dinner menu with our meeting area beautifully decorated for the occasion with "sustainable" Christmas touches on every table.

President Peter was delighted to present Gary Key with a prestigious Service Award that he had accepted (on Gary's behalf) at the recent Volvo Yachting Excellence Awards at Westhaven's Royal NZ Yacht Squadron. Gary was the recipient of this award for his leading advocacy through our Club of the Yachting NZ's Volvo Sailing "Have a Go!" scheme. Next year, the "Have a Go!" scheme will engage students from 12 local low-decile schools. Gary's role was also acknowledged in the Club's Yachting Scholarship that annually assists two talented youth sailors to attend their class youth championships.
Following dinner (and a record breaking Sergeant's session raising money for Glen Innes Food Bank) our Habitat for Humanity Build team took the floor to report on their recent adventure.
A lovely evening enjoyed by all who attended and a super way to close off meetings for the year. Well done Rotary Club of St Johns and Merry Christmas. Click Read More to see more great photos from our Christmas evening.
